THE BOOK OF MORONI
The Book of Moroni
Paragraph 1
1
1 Now I, Moroni, after having made an end of abridging the account of the people of Jared, I had supposed to not have written more, but I have not as yet perished. And I make not myself known to the Lamanites lest they should destroy me. 2 For behold, their wars are exceeding fierce among themselves; and because of their hatred, they put to death every Nephite that will not deny the Christ. 3 And I, Moroni, will not deny the Christ. Wherefore, I wander whithersoever I can for the safety of mine own life. 4 Wherefore, I write a few more things, contrary to that which I had supposed, for I had supposed not to have written any more. But I write a few more things, that perhaps they may be of worth unto my brethren the Lamanites in some future day, according to the will of the Lord.
Paragraph 1
1
1 After I finished summarizing the account of Jared’s people, I hadn’t expected to write anything else, but I haven’t died yet. And I’m not revealing my whereabouts to the Lamanites, so they don’t kill me. 2 Now their own battles among themselves are brutal. Because of their hatred, they put to death every Nephite who refuses to deny Christ. 3 And I won’t deny Christ, so I move around carefully for the safety of my own life. 4 So I’ll write a few more things, contrary to what I expected, since I hadn’t anticipated adding anything else. But I’ll write a few more things, which might one day be of some value for my Lamanite brothers and sisters, if it’s the Lord’s will.
